THE TUMULTUOUS 2020s AND AMERICA’S LAST CALL

Could what the late prophet Kenneth E. Hagin saw in September 1950 vision is upon us?

“I looked at the scroll again, and again I looked to see what I had read about. I saw the skyline of a large city. Looking closer, I saw the skyscrapers were burned out hulls. Portions of the city lay in ruins. It was not written that just one city would be destroyed, burned, and in ruins, but that there would be many such cities.

The Lord then began to speak to him about America’s last call and the end of all things being at hand.

I wrote these words nearly a month ago:

The recent Covid-19 pandemic has altered our nation, but will it be temporary? Remember, Pharaoh reneged on his promises to let God’s people go. He was not sincere. God is looking for sincerity and humility in America, in both repentance and our service to Him.

I’m warning you that if pride and arrogance continue to rule today’s church leaders and there is insincere repentance and we return to life as usual, there is something else that will come on the heels of this virus that will alter life in America again. I wish it were not so, and I hope I’m wrong. The effects of another national crisis may last longer than this one. Depending on how the church and people respond to the second thing (I don’t sense it will be another pandemic, but something else), there will be a third crisis that will change our nation for good, unless there is humility and heartfelt repentance that leads into a Spirit-filled movement and a national awakening.

Now we can see that the racial riots and senseless actions of violent thugs and looters over the unlawful death (really murder) of George Floyd that are sweeping  across our nation is indeed a second crisis.

Oh people, it’s time to serve the Lord with holy fear and trembling. To those who’ve been genuinely born again, God is our Father who loves us with an everlasting love, but don’t forget He is also a consuming fire, and it is a fearful thing to fall into His hands (Heb. 10:31). He loves even His enemies and desires to keep His hand of protection over our lives, families and nation, but we must cooperate with Him. He is patiently waiting for the precious fruit of the earth (James 5:7)and a glorious Church to arise from her anemic state and offer to Him the reward of His sacrifice.  Jesus is returning for such a Church – one who loves not their lives even unto death. He loves His church and the world so much and desires His best for all, but we must submit to Him or His protection will be removed off our nation even more, and Satan will continue to defile our land.

Here is a brother calling for a counter peacemaker movement:

We wake up this morning to a new trauma and an urgent invitation. Please make no mistake as you read headlines about “Protesters” and violence, survey the damage, and pick the broken pieces. Yesterday there were hundreds if not thousands of peaceful prayer vigils hosted by communities of faith. And there were hyped up but physically non-violent “protests” in different places which could be more likened to rallies.

However AFTER those, cities all over America were assaulted. There is a major difference between a protest and a riot. But what I witnessed late last night isn’t rioting. It was a calculated Anarchist attack by those who: 1. Have no hope 2. Believe there is NO value in non-violence 3. Are committed to violent overthrow of the present systems. 4. Possess no fear of God therefore possessing no foundation for internal restraint, moral governance, or the need to be governed. In sociology, a tipping point is a point in time when a group—or many group members—rapidly and dramatically change behavior by widely adopting a previously rare practice. This usually happens when the shelf life of what is standard practice, has expired or grown stale. WE ARE IN A TIPPING POINT.

Historically in America, these types of groups were considered “fringe” but today many of them have the loudest voice BECAUSE WE are not physically PRESENT. The number of black, white, Asian, Latino, and native Americans who DO NOT BELIEVE THOSE THINGS FAR OUTNUMBER those with anarchists ideas, and we are literally HANDING them the tipping point advantage.

I’m as upset and hurt by the failures of America and the police as the next man but this ENTIRE GAME is changing QUICKLY. People died last night and early this morning but the coming bloodshed will be far more grievous. I write this through dried out and blurry eyes, on less than 4 hours of rest as I attempt to keep rinsing the remnants of the tear gas that got into them. Myself and just a few of my friends stood, prayed, confronted, and tried to de-escalate the crisis as OUTSIDERS looted businesses, hurled rocks at the police, damaged properties, and RE-TRAUMATIZED my already deeply wounded city of Ferguson, Missouri.

Based not only on what I have known and experienced for many years, but what I have assessed from last night. (or I should say this morning) If MASSES are not mobilized as PEACEMAKERS in order to take control of the narrative within the next 24-72 hours; just as quickly as COVID-19 changed nations almost overnight, we will not recognize this country one week from today.

I’m going LIVE on @Civilrighteousness for the 8:18a est/7:18a morning rally in our #ISAIAH58fast and doing the DAY 2- PEACEMAKING devotional in the Field Action Guide.(you can download it for free at civilrighteousness.org)

THEN I want to share a strategy that I believe could actually significantly impact the trajectory of where this is headed if implemented immediately by even 5% of those who do not share Anarchist belief systems. Please check it out. — Jonathan Jermaine Thomas

Violent protest against police killing of George Floyd in NYC

I partly agree with Jonathan and applaud his valiant efforts. But we need more than a peace-making movement. We need a mushrooming prayer movement the likes of the prayer revival of 1830-31 that began with lunch time prayer meetings with an outpouring of heart-felt contrition and broken confession of people’s sins that swept through the churches and then the nation. We also need the fearless boldness, and firepower of Pentecost to kick us out of the four walls of our churches, and as Jonathan stated, be a presence in these cities.

WHERE IS THE CHURCH?

Here’s what Mario Mario so succinctly stated yet again in his latest blog:

“Meanwhile, the true resistance—with the exception of a prophetic core— is asleep at the wheel. The army that holds the only answer to racial injustice—for the most part—doesn’t know who they are. They took the gold out of their message and replaced it with powerless sermons made of tin.

“Had there been more of the fire of God in the church, there would be less fires in the streets. If there was more of hell preached in the pulpit, there would be less hell being lived out in the inner city. The people with the solution and something relevant to say, are apologizing instead of evangelizing. The people with the bankrupt human remedy who have nothing to say, are declaring it with conviction.”

Mario is right! The people with no remedy or solution tell a lie with conviction while the Church tells the truth so poorly. We have got to do better! I believe God always has a Divine response to such evil and destruction in our nation, and it is always through His glorious Body and mighty army that it must come. We need the supernatural activity of God right now working though His people. Nothing else will work.

THE ABUSE OF HONOR

This piece may get me in trouble with those in the world of Christendom who crave honor. But if you imitate the Master you will love and appreciate the following Scripture very much.

“I receive not glory from men [I crave no human honor, I look for no mortal fame]…” (John 5:41 — AMPC).

I believe in honor. The Scriptures have much to say about it. I believe in giving honor to whom honor is due (Rom. 13:7). I believe in honoring worthy leaders, especially those of high character who labor in the Word and prayer. In fact, double honor is encouraged for them (1 Tim. 5:17).

In one form or another, however, all my Christian life I’ve heard plenty of messages on the necessity of honoring leaders. What I don’t remember ever hearing is on the abuse of honor and the inequality of it. Please allow me to explain.

Case in point, who gets the best parking space at church? Who gets the best seats in the sanctuary? Who has the finest office? Who gets special days of appreciation in their honor? Who gets the most attention on their birthday and anniversary? Who gets access into the VIP lounge after special services?

Is it the dear single godly mother who is busy working two jobs to support her two children? Is it the humble couple who are caring for their invalid father or mother-in-law? Is it the church handy man who services the poor and needy at no charge? Is it the saintly widow who regularly visits the nursing home and cares for the forgotten of society? Is it the local working soul winning evangelist who is not on church staff payroll, but puts in more hours per week ministering to the poor and homeless than they do sitting in their plush offices? Sadly, in most cases, it is not.

Why this seemingly inequality? Why this lack of balance? Do esteemed leaders have need of more honor and esteem? I think not. Read these verses carefully:

“And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another” (1 Cor. 12:23-25).

When honor does not also flow to those parts that have need of honor we are standing on unscriptural and ungodly ground. Again, I take no issue with honoring leaders. The problem is in many circles the gross overemphasis and spotlight is usually on them, and hardly ever on those who most need it. And it is the constant glaring example of the former is always before us.

How did we become so uneven?

Let me share what I believe has greatly contributed to this imbalance. Be warned; this will irritate our glow-in-the-dark celebrity ministry icons.

COULD THE MODERN APOSTOLIC AND PROPHETIC MOVEMENT BE THE CULPRIT?

I believe the modern apostolic and prophetic “movement” has to take much of the blame for this. The flagrant overemphasis on apostolic “alignment”, prophetic “counsel”, pastoral “covering”, and spiritual “fathering” and “sonship”, although it contains a truth, is excessive and extremely overstated — at least in the world of Charismatic-dom.

I neither have time nor space to delve into the intricacies of this convoluted doctrine that borders on the heretical, but I’ll offer some admonition.

Jesus warned us, actually forbid us, from the use of inflated titles, false prestige, and inordinate reliance placed upon men acting as mediators and brokers for the favor and blessings of God in the lives of ordinary believers and up and coming young leaders.

“But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ” (Matt. 23:8-10).

The modern apostolic, prophetic, and even pastoral policies of honor are in many cases quite dishonorable and some are downright abusive. Apart from the rebellion and dishonor found in some members of the body of Christ, it is also littered with hurt and disillusioned believers who have been abused by church leaders and authority figures.

Take the theme of spiritual “fathering”. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “son in the house”? It’s a term to describe the supposed loyalty of a believer to align himself in submission and service to his “spiritual covering,” whether it be the “apostle of the house” or the ambitious pastor pushing for the same. Most of the time it’s not a spiritual “covering” but a spiritual “smothering”.

This teaching is usually presented as a spiritual concern for the success of  upcoming young leaders, but it’s often veiled by the real issue at hand — the need for preeminence among ignorant and insecure “spiritual fathers” and the protection from the hurt and betrayal of unfaithful sons or so called “Absaloms” or a “Judas”. The fact is, Jesus had a Judas, and so will every spiritual leader at some point in his life and ministry.

Apostles and pastors/leaders who set up authority structures and father-son ministry paradigms to insulate themselves from the betrayal or personal hurt of an “Absalom” or a “Judas” are actually working against the principle of death and resurrection that will greatly aid in transforming them into the image of Christ. Stop trying to save your life and save your ministry.

TRUE SPIRITUAL COVERING

This is what true spiritual covering is.

“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you” (Heb. 13”17).

The word “obey” those who have rule over you, implies obedience learned and earned through trust.

Again, please hear my heart. I am 100% for the principle of honor and honoring true leaders, and there may be a lack of honor for leaders in certain places where teaching is needed, but I believe the lack is on the other end. The less honorable and less presentable parts need more honor, so “that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.”

Why are we addressing the abuse of honor and highlighting the apostolic and prophetic ministry? Because if the Church is going to be transformed from an ego-centric, entrepreneurial, consumer-based ministry to a Christ-based community, the example of it must begin with this foundation of authentic apostolic ministry and true fathers of the faith, who though they be less loved will “the more abundantly love others and will very gladly spend and be spent for their souls” (2 Cor. 12:15).

The modern apostolic and prophetic movement needs maturing. When we see maturity there, we will see it everywhere else.

IS AMERICA ON THE BRINK OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION?

I just completed a manuscript called, The Tumultuous 2020s And Beyond: A New Era For America, The Church, And The Nations. I may add one more chapter to it because many voices are now warning us of judgment on America. It is no longer a question of if, but when, and how extensive it will be.

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her dressing room.

Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” (Joel 2:15-17)

Unless the Church humbles herself there will be judgment in America beginning in 2020 and 2021. These years are pivotal in the governmental arena of our nation. This is not absolute but it is a severe warning. Civil unrest and civil war in parts of our nation will result in such chaos that it will open us to foreign invasion. Prophets from America and other nations are being visited and warned.

Great and sincere humility and repentance is required for judgment to pass over us or even for greater delay in it. Most Christians just want to pray judgment away and continue on with their self-centered lives, but that posture will not move the hand of God. That type of prayer and lack of humility is worthless. Attempts at avoiding judgment without true repentance evidenced by a lifestyle change is fruitless and an absolute waste of time. God sees through situational repentance which is only motivated by a desire to avoid tragedy and hardship. True repentance is a complete submission and a turning over of our lives to the Lord that is motivated by a heart-felt desire for total obedience. God will not be mocked by anything else.

We are nearer to a severe disruption in this nation that is now at the door. I believe it can be further delayed but not sure it can be stopped without massive repentance in the Church. This will affect our nation politically, governmentally, and economically. Some of us have been in a state of humility and repentance personally, but the sin is Church-wide and body-wide. It must begin at the leadership level (read my book on Cleansing The Temple where this is outlined).

IT STARTS WITH CHURCH LEADERSHIP

Church leaders are not letting Christ build His Church and have His way. They are not leading people to Christ but to their own plan and agenda. God is tired of manmade systems dominated by human wisdom. To many Church leaders the ministry is a job and a means of making a living, and attendance, buildings, and cash are the bottom line with many of them. If that’s you, you need to get out of the ministry fast because you are a liability to Christ’s Church and not an asset.

Leadership is about being a friend of the Bridegroom and getting people to Jesus and not drawing them after yourself and your vision and agenda. If you connect people to the Lord they won’t need you as much. Leaders must decrease so Christ can increase. Some leaders’ egos are too big to live like that. Leaders are ordained by God to help people connect vertically to the Lord and walk with Him.

Here are two more sin issues:

  1. Sexual sin: Not only that, but many leaders and Christians are bound by sexual sin, pornography, and perversion. Their marriages and families are unstable and out of order, and yet they are trying to lead God’s people. What a sham. It is such a mess and worse than many have even thought. I praise the Lord for godly leadership, but there are so many ministers that can’t keep their pants on and are living in sexual sin.
  2. Schisms and division: We must also put an end to the schisms and division that is such a black mark against the body of Christ. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Satan, the accuser of the brethren, is busy accusing members of the body and setting them against each other. If we continue to wrestle against flesh and blood, and not recognize our true enemy and his devices, we will never be in a position to exercise our authority over him and to have a great effect on both the Church and the nation.

When 9/11 happened we had fire escape religion. Many people began to attend church and consider God again in their lives, but soon the tragedy was forgotten and people went on with their sinful lives and living however they wanted to. They didn’t find the power of God in the church but got only religion. This is the problem we have today. Many people are de-churched and un-churched because they are not finding a place to be touched by God and transformed. They are receiving information but little impartation and transformation.

I’m afraid that unless we have a real crisis in our nation too many Christians and leaders will continue to yawn and slumber and sleep. Personally, I’m living as soberly as I ever have. I’m as prayerful and watchful as I’ve ever been. I’m endeavoring to walk in love and obedience more consistently than ever in my Christian life. Something is coming down the pike that is going to rattle this nation and cause great panic and fear among many. But we need not fear if we are right with God and walking with Him in true consecration and holiness.

Nuclear war is now even a very real threat and possibility. We are in the final hour of the last days and the nations are being aligned with Bible prophecy and last days events.

It’s time to wake up, humble ourselves, repent, and live for the Lord wholeheartedly. If you’re walking close to the Lord you will have wisdom and guidance for the tumultuous times ahead, peace and authority in your spirit to rule and reign, and courage to face hardship.

THE CALLING OF A CHURCH AND A NATION BACK TO GOD

If ever there was a time when true apostles and prophets must arise in America and the world, it is now — not only to give prophetic words of what the future holds, but with holy conviction, to call a Church and a nation back to the true worship of God, to drive out the money changers, and to call us back to true Spirit-inspired, fervent, effectual prayer and fasting, and holy character. They must also confront the elite vipers of iniquity and warn the false apostles and prophets of their whitewashed walls and false claims to peace, and to cry out to the people to repent and return to God. Both John the Baptist and Jesus did this as well as the writers of the New Testament.

Now is the time to flee the existing superficial version of Christianity and our false, unholy allegiances and return to a lifestyle that reflects the humility and meekness of our Master. It is an hour when true ministers must move away from the rat race of professional ministry, money-making schemes, and the pursuit of fame, popularity, and media exposure, and be made whole in God’s presence and through God’s love.

Only true friends of the bridegroom whose character has been shaped in the crucible of their own sufferings and earned God’s trust are qualified to lead a Church and a nation back to God. They alone shall know the secret and heart of the Lord.

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Ps. 25:14).

Notice how this verse reads in the Living Bible:

“Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.”

Too many modern apostolic and prophetic voices are tainted because they are too eager for power, popularity, influence, riches, and fame. They seek more the validation and affirmation of men at the neglect of truly living and speaking in the sight of God. The road can be lonely and difficult at times, but we endanger ourselves when we seek the validation of man over the validation of our heavenly Father. We must begin to align ourselves with the heart of Christ and see clearly what is within man, and rather than seek approval in the flesh, prefer at all costs the approval of God. This will keep us preferring purity over popularity, intimacy over influence, and holiness over hype.

A heartfelt reliance and preference for the approval of God over the approval of man is what distinguishes all true apostles and prophets from counterfeits and wannabes. The same could be said for all ministers and all saints. For there will come a time when they must not only speak out against the carnal and sinful status quo, but shake off those religious, political, and cultural traditions that run contrary to what God demands and expects of His people. This cannot happen unless they love and fear God more than man. This also cannot happen unless they have an exceedingly great zeal for the honor of God’s house, who we are.

(This is an excerpt from my latest book, Cleansing The Temple)

ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT THE GLORY?

An excerpt from my new book, Cleansing The Temple. Kindle discounted pre-orders coming very soon.

Ananias and Sapphira’s sin was lying about the amount of money they contributed to the thriving church in Jerusalem. But the greater sin was the root of why they did it. There was a great move of God going on during the inception of the early Church, which compelled many believers to sell their possessions and lay the proceeds at the apostles’ feet (Acts 4:34-35). Ananias and Sapphira wanted to be a part of this great move but for the wrong reasons, so they conspired together to lie about the total amount they were giving.

Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last” (Acts 5:9-10).

The Church is referred to as the pillar and ground of truth. No lie could stand within it in its glorious beginnings.

“I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15).

Have you ever thought of how the very first act of judgment in the early Church was concerning a lie? That is very significant. The lie represents a mask of religion and hypocrisy that fills many churches today and is diluting the glory of God. The early Church was cleansed and purged immediately from what Ananias and Sapphira were attempting to introduce into the local body in Jerusalem.

More than the love of money, hypocrisy was the main issue. Jesus called hypocrisy “…the leaven of the Pharisees.”

“Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy” (Lk. 12:1).

Leaven is yeast, and it has a fermenting effect on dough, which is what causes the bread to rise. And since it takes only a small amount of yeast to transform an entire lump of dough, Jesus is warning His disciples that it takes only a little bit of what the Pharisees have to ruin a person. Paul said that a little leaven leavens the whole lump (1 Cor. 5:8). In Christ’s estimation, the conduct of these Pharisees had a leavening and corrupting effect upon those who followed their example. Just a tiny amount of the leaven of the Pharisees would be sufficient to turn a man into a bad and useless person.

In other words, what Ananias and Sapphira were introducing into the young body in Jerusalem had the potential to ruin what God was doing. Was there malicious intent on their part to ruin anything or hurt anyone? I don’t believe so, but the glory was so pure and white hot in the early beginnings of the Church age that even a lie without presumed malicious intent could not stand. If it was allowed to stand and not be judged, it would have spread.

A lack of accountability and righteous judgment today is a huge problem in the Church, enabling the leaven of sin to spread like a cancer. Biblical discipline is sorely lacking. First and second admonitions to correct the unrepentant are uncommon and dis-fellowshipping from such is nearly unheard of.

“A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject” (Titus 3:10 — KJV).

I don’t want to excuse Ananias and Sapphira by telling you that there seemed to be no malicious intent to harm anyone. They did conspire together and agree together to tell this lie, and it was Satan that filled their heart to do this (Acts 5:3). That alone makes it evil and wicked.

Masks of religion and veils of hypocrisy are a great stumbling block to the manifestation of His glory and power. God doesn’t expect perfection, but He expects honesty and transparency. The lie, veiled in hypocrisy, that was told by Ananias and Sapphira was against the Holy Spirit, and it is representative of the leaven that fills much of the Church today.

The Greek word for hypocrite or hypocrisy is hupokrisis, which literally means “reply.” The word came to denote a theatrical performance by one who spoke in dialogue. Then it was used of play-acting, role-playing, pretending, and, hence, acting insincerely — hypocrisy. A hypocrite conceals his true motives under a cloak of make-believe.

Today we have a generation of Ananiases and Sapphiras who would lie for the honor and glory of men rather than tell the truth for the honor and glory of God (Acts 5). Layers of lies and false projections and motives have produced veils of deception and masks of religion that have caused the glory to diminish and depart. If we learn to live in the sight of God instead of the sight of man, hypocrisy will be flushed out of our lives, and the glory of God would increase personally and collectively in the Church.

The early Church had just been birthed and was localized in Jerusalem only at this time. It was yet in an embryonic stage of development. Just as doctors can often detect something wrong in the early stages of a pregnancy, so did the apostle Peter by the revelation of the Holy Spirit detect a lie in the Church.

“But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?” (Acts 5:1-3)

When people sell everything and come and lay the money at the feet of genuine apostles in order to distribute it among the needy, that is a major move of God. The love of money had no hold on these early believers. It was not a requirement for anyone to sell their possessions. They did it willingly. The problem was that Ananias and Sapphira lied about the amount they gave for the insidious reason of wanting to be esteemed in the eyes of man. The root of their sin was not in what they did, but in why they did it.

Ananias and Sapphira avoided financial disclosure and tried to make the records appear as if they had given a larger percentage than what they actually gave. But the real motive connected to their lie had to do with pride and wanting to be highly esteemed in the church. It is one of the first teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men” (Matt. 6:1-2).

Ananias and Sapphira touched the glory of God with the desire for the glory of men. That was the root issue. In my humble opinion, this is also the root issue in the modern Church, and in every generation, it is the one thing that dilutes and diminishes the glory of God quicker than anything else. Jesus can only build His Church on purity and truth. When there are strong moral convictions about honesty and purity in all areas of our lives, and a true humility among ministers and saints, there will be a greater glory in the Church.

Much of the glory we’ve had in the modern-day Church has been the glory of man. The reason there’s been so little judgment today like that which fell on Ananias and Sapphira is because of the absence of the true glory of God, for this level of severe judgment that produces death is always in proportion to the present level of glory.

Consecration to God in holiness and purity is vital to increasing the glory of God in the Church.
