KNOWING GOD’S WAYS: THE OLD LADY, THE LETTER, AND THE LESSON

Jesus has taught me to love the one.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4)

Be patient with me as I give you the backdrop of this theme.

Because we make most of our living in the traveling ministry, end-of-the-year holidays are normally a challenging time for us financially. Lots of money going out and not so much coming in – that is, in the natural. Add to this, a big expensive book project we just completed (haven’t quite broken even yet), and you have quite a disproportionate ratio of output to income. But my philosophy and belief system is quite different from the average minister.

In my heart I’ve made a covenant with God: “I pray. You pay.”

THE HEAVENLY ECONOMY AND THE CURRENCY OF FAITH

I’m not going to worry a lick about finances. That would be sin. God is faithful. Honestly, most believers are unbelievers when it comes to finances. They tell everyone their needs and then praise God for meeting their needs. Not. Real. Faith. Sorry. I was brought up old school by men who knew what the real faith was. But that’s another topic for another day.

Back to the subject at hand and loving the one.

We always receive unexpected income from unexpected sources. Always. After all, God causes MEN to give unto your bosom (Luke 6:38). So…in the past month we received two unexpected checks for our ministry from two unexpected sources – one was from an old Canadian shut-in woman. This is really good, so again, thanks for your patience.

We had never met this woman. We didn’t know anything about her. She sent us a good sized check with an enclosed thank you card and letter thanking us for our ministry (see letter below).

Occasionally, we receive such surprise support, usually from old ladies. These type of seed offerings are always very special and very sacred to us. Mostly I always cry. First, because I know God did it since we didn’t make our needs known. He alone knew our need. This is the beautiful quality about real faith. When you don’t share your needs with anyone, and then you see the manifestation of those needs being met, you know it came directly from the Lord. This is how your faith grows.

Secondly, the need was met through the most unlikely vessel – in this case, an old shut-in precious saint.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Well, she wrote her phone number on the letter and I called her to thank her. This story just keeps getting better so hang on. Sorry it’s so lengthy.

When she answered she told me to wait until she put her hearing aid on (smile and say awww). When I told her who I was she was so excited. It was a long phone call. She needed godly encouragement.

I knew she loved the Lord but the devil was casting doubt on her salvation. She said she wasn’t sure. Well, the Spirit of God witnessed to me that she was indeed a very godly woman, but in her frailty the devil was taking advantage of her mind. I ministered assurance of salvation, told her how to stand against the devil’s lies, and then prayed with her.

Then I asked her about her family. Her response put the entire world and the day’s activities on hold for me. Oh, she was so burdened for her two adult children who were away from the Lord and her one grandson who was a transgender. That’s when my bowels of mercy rumbled. Such heartache she had! Such a burden she carried for the salvation of her little family! This is so common for so many. That’s when I realized just how saintly she was. I could feel the great heart of the Lord not only for her, but the many forgotten and forsaken elderly in society and in the church. I encouraged her some more and then prayed with her on the phone.

Somehow I wanted to do more for her, so I told her I was going to send her a letter, and I did days later. She has no email so I sent it postal and included a printed rough draft manuscript of a future book I’m working on called, Preparing For Eternity.

To top it all off, I had called this dear woman on her 90th birthday and didn’t know it. How faithful is our God and Father to express His love for this precious saint on her birthday!

Go for the one.

THE LESSON FROM THE LORD

When I got off the phone with her the Lord really ministered to my heart to stay underground in my calling and to not let the religious systems of man spoil or stain what He had called me to do. To just be obedient to go after the one’s and two’s, and three’s that He puts in my path. To be content going to smaller churches and obscure places, although He just sent us to the largest church in Paris, France with membership well over 10,000. He does that sometimes but it’s always with a specific designed purpose to bring forth an eternal change in a people or a city/nation. I love HIS assignments. They are so much sweeter than our own conjured up assignments that are most often tainted with human wisdom and some aspect of self promotion.

The one constant communication in my heart from the Spirit of God, and it’s been this way for many years, is to not get caught up in the rat race of the production and professionalism of public ministry and the bane of much of Western Christianity whereby so many have been deceived and defiled. Don’t go that way, beloved. Go for the least, the last, and the lost. And if,  and when, the Lord opens up larger opportunities to reach multitudes of people, stay small in your own eyes.

Look beyond the surface of plastic smiles to the heart in pain and the brokenness that fills so much of society. Even in church services I can guarantee you there is someone sitting close to you who is fighting a great battle and is overwhelmed with discouragement. Let the strong bear the infirmities of the weak. That is the perfect law of Christ and His heart for each of us.

Most of my life has been a continual yearning to know God’s heart – to know His ways and not just His acts. That’s really what this post is about. It’s the theme of much of what I write.

I trust it’s a blessing to those who carry the same heart cry.

Here’s a great testimony from a minister who just read my latest book, The Tumultuous 2020s And Beyond:

“Please let me take a minute to recommend what I believe to be one of the most powerful prophetic addresses that I have ever read. Bert Farias pulls no punches and lays out a non-compromised Biblical Worldview regarding the “hot-button” issues of our day.” Dr. Jeff Thompson

DANGEROUS CROSSINGS WE CELEBRATE AND MARKET IN THE PROPHETIC MOVEMENT

by Don Lynch

While reading a book by a leader who says he sees angels and demons 24-7, at the recommendation of one of our primary sources of contemporary Spirit-filled living, this author’s apparent deviation into dangerous existentialism and neo-Gnosticism immediately grieved my soul. The author invites people to see what he sees as if all believers should be enabled to live with such intimidating imaginations as their guidepost for reality. He says, “Since you now see this way, here is how you live your life.”

He instructs people how to live with these imaginations that clearly and fundamentally contradicts what the Bible says. He does not attempt to filter these personal experiences into the Biblical revelation, so his readers begin with a Biblical “how things really work in the spirit.” He begins with an experience to teach a principle. To anyone who doubts that he has these experiences or thinks they might not be Biblical, he says, “God wouldn’t have given you such a spectacular brain unless He intended for you to put it to good use.”

We should be stunned by reading that statement. We should also organize a period of corporate mourning that some of our well-known heroes think this book and this leadership pattern is a great resource. We should ask, “How did our heroes of supernatural function become so unbiblical in this regard while remaining Biblical in many other aspects of the kingdom of God?”

Can my spectacular brain, put to good use, tell me anything about how things really work in the spirit? No, it cannot, if we remain true to the Bible. It is Biblically certain that we do not start with our brains to interpret, judge, apply, or process revelation. Human imagination is not the prophetic source of revelation any more than human conscience determines what is right and wrong. How much Holy Spirit we have does not alter that reality.

We should suggest that everything this book says after that statement finds its proper place in a shredding machine. And we should see this as a clear example of the dangerous crossings we are celebrating, encouraging, and opportunistically marketing in the prophetic movement.

IT GETS WORSE

The author gets infinitely worse when he invites anyone reading his book to come “to his own conclusions” about “the author’s opinions” concerning his dangerous crossings. The author says something we should see as a complete denial of God’s absolutes when he assumes our spectacular brains bring us to our own conclusions. He ignores Bible at the start and releases his teaching as a kingdom leader without a context for Biblical accountability.

Between these two gross Biblical errors walks the imaginations of a person in leadership in the kingdom of God, validated by some of our most excellent experts on supernatural reality, asking us to do what the Bible says we should never do. He asks us to make dangerous crossings into spiritual reality without a Bible and submission to prophetic process.

We should be stunned to read these words in print, stunned that this fundamental error goes unchallenged without a loud voice from this movement. We should look around a few minutes to discover the source of this stunning departure from Truth. We should be saying something like, “Stop telling people to ignore the Bible and go with what their brain tells them is how things really work in the spirit. Stop teaching experience as principle.”

TEACHING EXPERIENCE AS PRINCIPLE

We have had prophets which should not have been teachers who explained authentic prophetic experiences as if they were principles. We have entered the season when selling the capacities of the Spirit is normalized with a hurried shrugging off of caution. We say, “If I can do this, you can too” when God specifically says otherwise. We have had famous and authentic prophets who taught experience as principle.

In one trending example, we have this mentality about seer-ism that is extra-biblical at best and sorcery at worst. We cannot seem to tell the difference between the two. We have some reliable voices and leaders, like James Goll, teaching “seer as form of a prophet,” recognizing this is a way of experiencing spiritual reality that calls for unique training. We also have seer courses that are nothing more than Gnostic witchcraft. We cannot seem to tell the difference.

We have examples of dangerous crossings now marketable as the hype on television and social media as “higher, deeper, greater, and more accurate” forms of prophetic instruction that are not Biblical and never pass through the prophetic process or a Biblical filter. The presupposition is that someone went to Heaven and heard from Jesus directly because he is a seer prophet, so the Bible and prophetic process do not apply and no interpretation, application, or implementation of this revelation is needed. We act as if this qualifies little men to cast big shadows. Then, we drop this seer-ism exaggeration into our marketing machines with several sprinkles of pagan hype and sell the phony baloney idea that everyone can do it.

MARKETING THE MYTHS OF MYSTICS

Someone told us we could market our ministries. Someone told us we have entered a season of history that normalizes mysticism without Biblical Truth. Someone told us to brand ourselves and sell our brands. Someone told us correction does not sell, so we should offer our “how-to’s” like lollipops with a variety of pleasing tastes. Someone told us the cotton candy Gospel is cool in our prophetic circus. Someone told us Joel’s prophecy suddenly means everyone should be caught up into Heaven to hear revelation from God’s mouth to my ears “in this hour.” Someone should be telling us to hear the Bible more than we see in the spirit.

We need to hear God speak from His Word before we assume what we see is Truth. We should expect any person communicating to have mature expertise in the Word of God or a measurable, practiced submission to a leader who does. The prophetic process applies to all revelatory experiences. Only the Bible tells us, “how things really work in the spirit,” so all prophetic process must stand the constant scrutiny and correction of Scripture.

Marketing hype justifies irresponsibility. Social media now offers us the opportunity to communicate without accountability for the outcomes. The idea that kingdom leaders continually apply Bible Truth and apostolic Didache to spiritual trends has disappeared because of our uncertainty about how to use social media and our newly-discovered “let’s all be positive all the time” posture. “If it sells, it is good for the kingdom,” sounds like a Christianized website stuffed with a satanic ritual.
Who is Responsible?

Kingdom leaders are responsible for what they say. And, kingdom leaders are responsible for what others who say they represent the King say. Kingdom leaders are responsible at the measure of their kingdom assignments to respond to error. Kingdom leaders are responsible to identify and isolate wolves, and wolves are recognized by what they say as prophets and teachers, getting close to the sheep, acting as if they are part of the culture but motivated to consume sheep by moving them into a separate sheepfold.

Image result for image of false prophetic

Kingdom leaders should begin a radical clean up in the prophetic. Kingdom leaders should curb the marketing hype on unbiblical seer-ism. It is time to stop stamping marketing mysticism with “OK for shipment.” The kingdom suffered with its own dysfunction until recently, when it took 15 years to deal with a sexual predator. We cannot afford to take another 15 years to correct this prophetic trend.

We say, “God will take care of that.” We prophesy that He will to avoid our responsibilities, and we reveal that we need to start the judgment in our own hearts. We are unwilling to be leaders when we neglect problem-solving. The prophetic movement needs a good foot washing.

The Bible does not say, “God will judge prophetic revelations someday.” The Bible says, “You need to judge accurately, get good at it, practice it within kingdom culture, and prepare for judging angels and nations.” The Bible says, “You leaders, given oversight by Holy Spirit, deal with the wolves.” The Bible says, “You judge. You bring to account. You follow through on kingdom relational integrity.”

The role of leaders is not “let me endorse your book so it will sell more copies, and the marketing hype will push you into a place of influence for which you have no Divine appointment or preparation and maturity.” Allowing people to misrepresent the King disgraces Him and the kingdom of God.

The Real Jesus by Bert Farias

THE TWO SCARIEST VERSES IN THE BIBLE

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12, 15).

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).

Sin is made light of and winked at today, but when we understand these verses then it takes on a fearful nature. The Bible has several references to the Book of Life (Ex. 32:31-33)(Ps. 69:28)(Dan. 12:1)(Phil. 4:3)(Rev. 3:5). If a man’s name is not found in it at the Day of Judgment, there is no more hope. Today preachers peddle universalism and play around with the Scriptures attempting to remove hell and the judgments of God from the Bible, but it’s an exercise in futility as the Word of God can never be altered or changed for anyone (Ps. 119:89).

OUT OF HADES TO STAND BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE

Have you ever thought of the present place of all lost departed souls who died in their sins? Jesus unveils this mystery in Luke 16:19-21 when he speaks of a rich man dying and lifting up his eyes in Hades. He was rich no more, but had lost everything, even his own soul. But one day that rich man along with multitudes of other lost departed souls will be drawn out of Hades, receive their bodies, and stand before the Great White Throne Judgment before being cast into the lake of fire for all of eternity. Though the rich man and multitudes of lost departed souls will have regained their bodies, that will not be a happy moment. The rich man was familiar enough with the Scriptures (Lk. 16:27-31) to know that this judgment lay ahead, though he paid little attention to it while he lived on the earth.

But the climaxing moment of his despair is yet to come while he remains in Hades. Every lost departed soul tends to hope against hope, even when all hope is gone. Do you think the rich man will entertain a hope that somehow he will be granted a pardon and be numbered among the righteous? Don’t you think that perhaps in Hades he and all other lost departed souls, some who’ve been there thousands of years, entertain the idea and the possibility that somehow one last prayer for deliverance and mercy might be granted?

Imagine as the rich man’s turn comes to stand before the Great White Throne to hear the final verdict, there being a secret hope, slim as it may be, that possibly his name will be cleared and found within the Book of Life. Solemnly he waits and watches the recording angel’s finger run through the pages. When he sees the angel nod his head no, despair and terror seizes him. Alas, his name is not there. He realizes now that he will have no part in the regions of life and light, but for he and all the lost departed souls with him is reserved only the second death (Rev. 21:8). How deeply painful of a thought.

THE ENDLESS NIGHTMARE (REALITY) OF LOST DEPARTED SOULS

Although the rich man was a son of Abraham after the flesh, for he called him “father Abraham”, by his unbelief and lack of repentance it was proven he was not of Abraham’s seed (John 8:39, 44). His fate along with multitudes of others is described by Jesus:

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:11-12).

The phrase “weeping and gnashing of teeth” is an expression that describes the final emotion of despair. For all lost departed souls there is no hope.
What self-incriminations, what remorse and despair those lost souls will perceive in that day when their name is not found in the Book of Life. What eternal doom lies ahead for them when they realize the penalty for their sin and failure to believe God’s Word.  What horror will grip them when they discover the fate of following their stubborn self-willed, self-determined course  of eternal damnation.
It’s a nightmare for them that they would soon rather awake from and forget. But alas, it is not a nightmare, but reality. For the lost, the endless darkness of eternity will begin after the Great White Throne Judgment. They sealed their fate upon taking their last breath on this temporal shore called earth. It is the greatest tragedy known to mankind. If only they would believe it while living, they could escape it.
No matter what people believe, the sweetest, most truthful lips that ever spoke told us beforehand how it is:
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:13-14).
There is a calculated statistic I read somewhere that for every 50 persons who choose the narrow way, 1950 choose the broad way to destruction. My soul grips me with fear and trembling when I ponder that ratio.
Let’s watch and be sober for the end of all things is at hand (1 Pt. 4:7). May the Lord increase our burden for the lost.

THE BOGUS ALTAR CALL

Today in the West a church ‘altar call’ (if they even have one) often consists of the pastor asking for every head bowed and every eye closed while they ask for a show of hands raised by those who want to ‘accept Jesus’. That is so very Western, for an Easterner or an Oriental would never think they have the privilege of merely ‘accepting’ the King into their lives. Instead, they would give their lives to the King, humbly asking that He accept them.

Two minister friends of mine were having lunch one day. They were talking about some of these differences between Western and Eastern thinking, and one friend mentioned a trip to India and what one of the Indian pastors had said.

“You in America preach a different gospel that we do in India”, the Indian pastor said. “You preach that if you accept Jesus He will heal your family, He will heal your money and give you more, and He will heal your body. You will be blessed if you accept Jesus. But in India we preach that if you believe in Jesus your family may reject you, you may lose your health, you may lose your money, and you may lose your life.”

Altar Calls

The West invites Jesus into their already busy lives, while the East gives their whole life to Jesus to the point of immediately being willing to die for Him if called upon to do so. The West doesn’t understand Jesus is a King, but instead think of Him first as a friend, one who is on our side to improve our life and make us prosperous. The East realizes He is the King who will rule the earth, and even now as Head of the body of Christ, rules and reigns as the God-Man.

One is horrified that God in the flesh would be betrayed by a supposed friend over an intimate dinner while the other merely sees a dinner in which one of the attendees left to carry out his plan.

I look around at the body of Christ in the West and see so much sin, so much love of the world and all that is in it, and I wonder why there is such a lack of revelation about Who Jesus is. And that is the key, our churches have largely left receiving revelation from God as the purpose for meeting, and for prayer and worship, in favor of entertainment copied from the world. Instead of attracting people with the banner proclaiming they can know God, the church tries to attract people under the banner proclaiming Jesus can make your life better if you include Him in it.

But to the remnant who know Him as King, Who can indeed also be a Friend (but not one without the other), great grace and peace be upon you.

HEAVEN: HOME OF THE HOLY

I remember years ago during one summer ministry trip to the West Coast I went to a park on a day off to lay out in the sun. I put a blanket down and was laying flat on my back with my eyes closed just minding my own business. Suddenly I sensed the presence of evil in that place. As I sat up and looked around I realized that I was in a homosexual park. My spiritual nature did not jell with the spirits that were in that park. Do you think homosexual spirits would be at home in heaven? What about adulterers and fornicators? Liars and thieves? Murderers and child molesters? Even the cowardly and the unbelieving will not be there, but will instead have their part somewhere else.

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).

If you had just arrived on the earth after living in heaven for a long time the atmosphere and conditions of the earth would repulse you. Sin has cursed the earth. Man’s sinful nature has polluted the entire planet.

Why do think there are strife-filled marriages and broken homes? Why do you think there are unwanted pregnancies and abortions? Battered wives and abused/neglected children? Drug addicts and alcoholics? Murders and suicides? Thefts and rapes? Adulteries and fornication?Homosexuals and lesbians? False religions and cults? Fightings and wars? Jails and prisons? It’s because of sin!

There is no sin in heaven. There is no one with a sinful nature in heaven. There are no places of sin up there in the glory world. There are no police, no funeral parlors, no hospitals, no prisons, no houses of prostitution, no bars or night clubs, no dirty dancing halls, or porn shops. There is no Satan, no curse, no darkness, no death, and no sickness and disease, or pain. Why? Because there is no sin.

Image result for images of heaven

Heaven is a holy place. What makes it so holy is the absence of sin. Heaven is marked by perfect love, perfect peace and tranquility, fulness of joy unspeakable, endless worship, perfect harmony, and unfathomable beauty. Only those whose sinful nature has been transformed and who now possess the nature of God can pass through those pearly gates. You must be born again (John 3:7)! To be born again means to be changed from one nature to another. It means to receive power to becomes the very sons of God (John 1:12), and pass from one realm into another. It means to recover the nature of Adam before he sinned.

Nothing unclean or defiled can enter into heaven. Without holiness no one will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14).

“But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life” (Rev. 21:27).

In this life is where your eternal destiny is determined. This agrees perfectly with the Scriptures.

Holiness is what makes heaven so wonderful and only the holy will enter therein. This glorious atmosphere is what man was created for. Only the precious Blood of Christ can cleanse you to cause you to pass through.

I hope I will see you there. What a day that will be.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION: NONE HOLY CAN ENTER

A couple of years ago I preached a message on The Law Of Attraction using Rev. 22:11 as an opening text, explaining that the condition of departed spirits who’ve left this earth is irreversible.

“He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

After death you will be drawn to the ruling passions you were drawn to in this life. This means that if you were drawn to places where sin reigns such as night clubs, bars, porn sites, to where evil is glorified, to where profanity, obscenities, and curses are spoken, then you will leave this earth and be pulled toward the place of those ruling desires. In this case, hell.

If you are a slave to sin and cannot stop its bondage in your life…if you do not enjoy worshiping and sharing Jesus…if you resist spiritual instruction and holy preaching you are in danger of eternal perdition. If you do not have mental freedom and peace deep down inside your spiritual nature is not in accord with God.

Heaven is for the pure and holy. Heaven is for those whose natures have changed, who’ve truly repented and been born again, and who love Jesus with all their hearts and are living wholly for Him. Holiness and sin can never touch each other. There can be no mixture. Good and evil cannot harmonize. The sinful nature of man can never harmonize with the intense purity and holiness of heaven. A sinner would be in complete discord and agony in heaven.

You’re either born again with a new nature that loves and practices righteousness or you’re still in your sins and practicing unrighteousness. Heaven and hell are determined by you and your nature, not God. He has sent Jesus Christ whose precious blood was shed that you might repent and believe the gospel and be born again (Jn. 3:7) and given power to become sons of God (Jn. 1:12).

Heavens Gates Opening — Stock Photo

What I’m saying is this: The great purpose of divine revelation is to warn men that their manner of living in this world has a permanent effect on their eternal destiny. Humanity’s time on the earth is very brief compared to eternity and serves to only be a dressing room to prepare your soul for eternity and secure fitness for the next life. This is what should have every man’s reverent attention in this life.

Do not let the devil lie to you and tell you that you will be unhappy if you repent and live a holy lifestyle and that somehow you’ll be missing out on the fun. Don’t believe the big lie of Satan that there can be no real enjoyment in life if you stop sinning. The truth is that the person who has truly repented has no desire to sin. The grace of God is given to a person who repents and changes that person’s desires and empowers him to live for Christ.

The fake love gospel void of repentance has deceived many. The hyper-grace gospel void of repentance has deceived many. The diabolical silence on holiness and such themes as the cross, the blood, and hell have bred defective believers who profess Christ but in works and obedience deny Him.

Many in and outside the church need to repent and believe the gospel. If we just do that it will change the Church and the nation.

A GENERATION OBSESSED WITH POPULARITY

The majority of the largest churches today are where itching ears and sweet teeth abound. Messages are candy-coated. Words are sugary. Everything must sound nice with spice, pleasant without pain, and affirming with approval. Extra caution is taken not to offend or upset anyone, lest they and their money leave the church. Too many preachers are being deceitful, flattering for favors, and failing to give the full counsel of God.

But notice what the Living Bible says about our responsibility to properly handle the Word of God:

“We do not try to trick people into believing—we are not interested in fooling anyone. We never try to get anyone to believe that the Bible teaches what it doesn’t. All such shameful methods we forego. We stand in the presence of God as we speak and so we tell the truth, as all who know us will agree” (2 Cor. 4:2).

When is the last time you heard an authentic message on the judgments of God? I heard Francis Chan recently say that he went through his Bible marking every verse on judgment with a pink highlighter or pen and every promise of God with blue. To his surprise, he found pink dominated blue by quite a margin. He discovered that the ratio was approximately 2-1. Why does hardly anyone preach on God’s judgments? Why does that seem like a dirty word when the Word is full of it?

Jesus spoke often of death and the judgment to come.  He spoke of hell quite a bit, too. And the frequency by which He spoke of these things agrees with the pattern of the entire New Testament.  Actually, there are 234 references of death, hell, and judgment in 260 chapters of the NT.  Isn’t it disturbing that so few preachers today preach on these vitally important themes?  We’ve practically taken them out of the gospel.

Contrary to popular opinion, Jesus did not come preaching love and acceptance as so many Biblically illiterate people tout. He preached this: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15).

What about the fear of the Lord? His severity? The all consuming fire of His holiness? The Lord spoke to me years ago saying that there had been a diabolical silence on holiness, and then I wrote a book (The Real Spirit of Revival) on these lost themes and understated truths. It’s still a great need in today’s church.

Let me ask you a few other questions: When was the last time you heard a message that was highlighted by correction, reproof, and rebuke?

When was the last time you were deeply convicted of your sins or some form of idolatry or lust in your life?

When is the last time you walked out of a church service with a holy consciousness of God gripping you?

Have you heard a message on sexual sin in any recent time? No wonder pornography, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and divorce continue to rise.

What about a message on the blood, the cross, or hell?

Friends, by neglecting to preach on these vitally important themes, we are equipping a generation for popularity and training them for reputation. We’re fueling their appetite for fame, fortune, and fashion, while depriving them of holy fire that schools their senses to discern between the love of this world and the love of the Father.

Much of this generation likes pomp and pageantry, but they don’t like their hearts pricked with conviction. They enjoy having their egos stroked rather than poked. They like hearing how wonderful they are without ever having their feelings hurt. They enjoy having their consciences soothed with smooth sermons, but not scorched with Spirit-filled scoldings.

WOE UNTO YOU

This generation counts their likes and follows on social media more than they count how many days its been since they’ve actually prayed and waited on God. Social time always trumps Bible time. They love the praises of men, but despise the chastening of the Lord. They sing and wave their streamers, flags, and banners on Sunday morning in church, but never weep, groan, and travail for the sinful condition of those outside of church.

We are clucking too many for the cruise ship, but not building them up for the battle ship. We are pampering too many for the party life, but not preparing them for Christ’s purpose.  We are breeding them for peace and ease, but not schooling them for the conflict and the struggle.

This generation is obsessed with popularity, but not prepared for persecution.

Have we forgotten the Lord’s own admonition: Woe unto you when all men speak well of you” (Luke 6:26).

The spiritual diet of this generation must be greatly altered or here’s what we will see in the very near future:

  1. Living together outside of marriage (fornication), adultery, and divorce will continue to rise in the next generation.
  2. The trend in the church (if not altered) is that most of our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will attend a church that says you can be a gay Christian.
  3. Evangelical pastors will vote for a gay president sooner rather than later. Already some are defending Mayor Pete’s lifestyle.
  4. Instead of the preaching of the cross, social justice and a happiness gospel will dominate the sermons of most evangelical pastors.
  5. Theological schools will become more and more corrupted with seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. Their graduates will become twice the child of hell their professors are.
Mark it down. We’ve got work to do to turn this around.
Pastors and parents, it starts with you. Apostles and prophets must lay this foundation. If we resist the idol of ministry success, the love of money, and a lust for power the Lord can work. We can make headway and push back the carnality and compromise. Consumer-driven church and image-based ministry must go. Man pleasing agendas and the pursuit of popularity must stop.

Do you want to survive or thrive in this decade? You must take an uncompromised stand for truth and righteousness. Please get my new book, The Tumultuous 2020s and Beyond, to discover all that’s at stake in the coming years. We must be bold, fearless, and strong in the Lord.

AMERICA’S DECADENCE AND THE AWFUL FATE OF PERVERTED MEN

I can’t seem to get the image of the Democratic presidential candidate Pete “Petunia” Buttigieg introducing and kissing his husband Chasten (talk about a name for an alien entity appearing as an angel of light) out of my mind. Just as Obama’s lighting up of the White House in the rainbow gay pride colors on that fateful evening in June of 2015 when same sex marriage was legislated, this image is another signpost in the death march of a nation. According to Scripture, these sort of defiant acts always signal the beginning of the end of a society. The shock effect on this sort of heinous thing continues to be reduced as millions of people keep being numbed and desensitized to it.

Let me stir you with the fear of God using an abundance of Scripture by reminding you that God’s mind and perspective has not changed toward this abomination.

A QUEER THING HAPPENED: THE STORY OF PERVERTED MEN

The story begins in Gibeah when an old man extends hospitality to an unnamed Levite, his concubine, and his servant and lodges them for the night. In the middle of the night, however, a strange thing happens.

“As they were enjoying themselves, suddenly certain men of the city, perverted men, surrounded the house and beat on the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, ‘while they were enjoying themselves, the men of the city, who were wicked men, surrounded the house and pounded on the door.’ They said to the old man, the master of the house, ‘’Bring out the man who came to your house, so we can have relations with him’” (Jud. 19:22).

The expression “perverted men” literally means “sons of Belial,” and it refers to a group of vile men who sought to satisfy their homosexual desires on the unnamed Levite visitor. The men of Sodom also made a similar request to abuse Lot’s visitors in a sadistic, homosexual manner (Gen. 19:5). These accounts reveal the decadence of both of these periods of time in Israel’s history. Homosexuality is the only reason the Scriptures give for Sodom’s destruction. Jude 7, which is referenced later in this article, confirms this also.

Ceremonial laws were specifically for Israel to obey, but moral laws are universal and apply to the entire human race. The Hebrew word for “perverted” is qadesh, which means one practicing sodomy and prostitution in religious rituals.

One of the universal moral laws of Israel states:

“There must never be a cult prostitute among the daughters of Israel nor a cult prostitute among the sons of Israel” (Deut. 23:17).

Isn’t that the height of deception—to mix sodomy and prostitution with religion?

Under God’s Law Israel was commanded to remove this type of evil and wickedness from the land. This is a type and shadow of what is now operative in this Church dispensation. Paul commanded the Corinthian church to “put away from yourselves the evil person” (1 Cor. 5:13).

We need to understand that the practices of the Old Testament do not carry over into the New Testament, but the principles do. For example, we don’t stone violators and transgressors of the Law in the same way they did in the Old Testament, but we are to apply the same principle in disciplining the church member (1 Cor. 5). Note how much harsher the penalty was under the Law.

“The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the whole tribe of Benjamin, saying, ‘What is this evil that has been committed among you? Now hand over the wicked men in Gibeah, so that we can kill them and purge the evil from Israel.’ Yet the Benjamites were not willing to listen to their fellow children of Israel” (Judges 20:12-13).

After an ensuing battle with the tribe of Benjamin, who refused to comply with God’s Law, godly order was eventually restored as the land was indeed cleansed of perversion. But the cycle of sin and perversion resurfaced again in Israel during the time of the kings.

THE BIBLE CALLS HOMOSEXUALS AND SODOMITES PERVERTED PERSONS

“And there were also perverted persons in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel” (1 Kin. 14:24).

The abominations of the nations were infiltrating into Israel and influencing them in the same way the sin and immorality of the world has infiltrated much of the Church today.

David’s son, Asa, was a godly king and he did right in the sight of the Lord and cleansed the land once more.

“And he banished the perverted persons from the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made” (1 Kin. 15:12).

Jehoshaphat followed in his father Asa’s footsteps and did the same during his reign.

“And the rest of the perverted persons, who remained in the days of his father Asa, he banished from the land” (1 Kin. 22:46).

Then in a later period King Josiah did the same.

“Then he tore down the ritual booths of the perverted persons that were in the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the wooden image” (2 Kin. 23:7).

Do you see a pattern here? Israel, just as the church is today, were God’s chosen people, and they were to be separate from the world and the sin, immorality, and perversion that is in the world.

We are no longer under the Law as they were, but the Law is still good for the lawless and insubordinate (1 Tim. 1:8-10), and accounts like these are given to us as examples for our admonition (1 Cor. 10:1-11). As I said, moral laws are universal laws that apply to everyone.

THESE ARE WARNINGS TO THE CHURCH NOT TO ENTERTAIN THESE SPIRITS

These and other examples serve as a warning to the church today to stand true and hold fast to the ordinances of God so that in the end they would not suffer the same vengeance of eternal fire. We are not to let the culture of our nation dictate the direction of the Church. We are not to entertain spirits of perversion. If we do, we can actually lose our standing with God.

“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire” (Jude 1:5-7).

In this Scripture “strange flesh” is speaking of homosexuality. God has not changed. His attitude toward sin and this sort of perversion has not changed.

The manifestation of the wrath of God in eternal fire against sin is seen in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Scriptures do not balk at the use of very plain language to describe the revolting sexual depravity as a prime justification for their annihilation.

The burning commentary on this record is seen in Romans 1, with Paul’s indictment of “men with men committing what is shameful” so rightly described as unnatural. By such deeds men dishonor their own bodies and become lower than the beasts of the field.

Sodomy is one of the most degraded sexual offenses, and it is appalling how our culture has embraced it and celebrated it, and continues to promote it. It’s not just the abominable sin of homosexuality but it’s gay activism or the pushing and promotion of this lifestyle that is the death rattle of any nation, as Romans 1 says.

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;  who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (v. 28, 32).

Paul’s explanation of the gospel always included the wrath of God on those who will not repent. All unrighteousness and especially the perversion of sodomy usually leads men to suppress the truth and hold false views of God and the Bible because they know that the truth would require them to repent. The terrible truth is that as people continue to reject God, He gives them up to increasingly immoral and self-destructive activities (Rom. 1:24, 26, 28). How fearful of a state that is.

Look at our nation, people! We are so far down this road of decadence. The apostle Paul is clearly showing us that homosexuality is a final order of rebellion against God. It is a sure sign that a society is in the last stages of decadence. My fear is that our children and grandchildren will pay for the negligence of their irresponsible parents, humanistic teachers, and corrupt politicians. Too many are asleep and have abandoned their post.

Arise, oh mighty remnant of God and sound the trumpet to this evil generation.

AMERICA’S HELL ENLARGING THROUGH “CHRISTIAN” HYPOCRISY

The past week’s news headlines in America are a laboratory analysis and forecast of the perfect storm that is lambasting our falling nation.

America mourns as basketball legend Kobe Bryant dies, and every news station, sports talk show outlet, and media center in America covers his death and celebrates his achievements in a sport. Meanwhile, a pastor in Nigeria is beheaded for refusal to deny Christ, and no one cares.

I wrote an article a couple of days after Kobe’s untimely death about the vanity of a celebrity gaining the whole world and possibly losing his own soul, and Christians defend him and his Catholic faith, and call me a classless individual who wrote a “creepy post mortem commentary”. The article’s purpose was to simply put us in remembrance of the brevity and vanity of life without Christ, the permanence of eternity, and was a simple call to salvation.

The truth is America and many professing Christians don’t want their American dream deflated. They don’t want to know that there is a God they’re accountable to. They are like the disbelieving brothers of Jesus of whom He said:

“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil” (John 7:7).

AMERICA HATES THE REAL BIBLICAL JESUS

America hates the real Biblical Jesus. Many professing “Christians” do, too, including many of our celebrities. The stronghold in America is not the sinners who love the world, but the professing “Christians” who praise Him with their mouth but whose heart is far from Him — the ones who confess His Name but in works deny Him.

Folks, here is the big problem. Many of our celebrities and star athletes confess Jesus and have “God-talk” on their lips but they do not live for Him. As an example, the Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, whom I love by the way, is being lauded for his faith in God since his childhood, yet he is living with his girlfriend and parties with his teammates. There are numerous other examples of this type of double standard and hypocrisy in America’s entertainment industry and among our celebrities.

But here’s the worse thing: American preachers defend the faith of these individuals and praise them. They exalt them before our youth as an example of a bold Christian witness, but they’re living in sin. We not only have frauds in the entertainment industry, but the high crime is that we have them in our pulpits.

Mahomes says he participates in team Bible studies and chapel services, but who is leading them and conducting them? Who is mentoring young men like him and others, and giving them the whole counsel of God. Who speaks of sin any more? Who tells them their lives are wrong? What preacher in America lives up to this job description?

“Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching” (2 Tim. 4:2).

Observe the many comments from the sleazy Super Bowl halftime show. Some of those entertainers are professing Christians. Many viewers who defended the show are professing Christians. It’s alarming to me that a professing Christian could watch this halftime show and not sense the Lord’s displeasure and be grieved in their spirit. Listen, if you are in that category, you are asleep and in great need of a rude awakening. You need to repent of your false profession and your compromise against holiness.

Have you ever read the following verses?

“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them” (Ephesians 5:3-7).

Much of “Christian” America doesn’t even know such verses are in the Bible. Such popular figures like mayor and presidential candidate Pete Puttigieg are professing “Christians” who are in a same sex marriage relationship. Honestly, it makes me want to vomit when I see half of our nation idolizing such effeminate men. Oh God, how far we have fallen from Biblical standards in America!

THE PERFECT STORM

The deception is rooted in this simple statement: We have divorced Christianity from the Bible. America is a homosexual nation because we celebrate this lifestyle and cater to them all. America’s new religion is sex in all forms, and in all fashions. We have been desensitized to sin and seduced by sex. We are a hell bound nation. The worst of it is that our children are bearing the brunt of our lust and being exploited by the thousands in the sex trafficking industry, which is so much worse than any of us know. This is all about shock value and bringing down our nation’s defenses, so that after awhile it won’t bother you.

I know many of you don’t want to hear it, but it was the Obama presidency that opened the portal of sexuality here in America to a greater measure, and accelerated this vile filth from the pits of hell. Political authority from those eight disastrous years allowed a hell-bent, full-blown deviant spirit to rule, while the church played church grow-thism and designed a consumer model to keep attendance convenient and carnal.

And worse yet, now that a true presidential leader is putting a strangle hold on some of the darkness and prevailing progressivism, and draining the national swamp of its evil, people are having hissy fits as they scream for their Sodom and Gomorrah to remain unrestricted and unrestrained. Even professing Christians are now unashamedly Trump-haters, bashing our president at every turn. Stars of champion professional sports teams, who profess Christianity, boycott their visit to the White House in protest of the most Biblical and church friendly president we’ve ever had. Shame on you. You are poor, wretched, blind, and naked.

This double standard and highly hypocritical Christianity is a recipe for disaster. It’s the perfect storm. A sleepy church and a sinful society. Unholy Christ professors and a hell bent nation. Cowards and frauds in our pulpits who won’t preach the full truth, while the world parties on into eternal damnation.

Lord, have mercy.

We must possess an unwavering stand for truth and righteousness to thrive in the new era. Read about it in my new book, The Tumultuous 2020s. I believe it will be a great blessing to you. Here’s what Dr. Jeff Thompson said about it:

Please let me take a minute to recommend what I believe to be one of the most powerful prophetic addresses that i have ever read. Bert Farias pulls no punches and lays out a non-compromised Biblical Worldview regarding the “hot-button” issues of our day. Bible-believing Christians cannot afford to be complacent.

Bert’s books are forerunners to personal holiness, the move of God, and the return of the Lord. They also combat the departure from the faith and the turning away from the truth we are seeing in our day.

EARTHLY CASUALNESS LEADS TO ETERNAL CASUALTIES: THE KOBE BRYANT STORY AND WHAT WE ALL NEED TO LEARN

I am greatly saddened by the tragic death of Kobe Bryant and his young daughter, but I am just as saddened and grieved by the irresponsible and nonchalant response from the world and even from the church to such misfortune. Untimely deaths of young celebrities like Kobe Bryant are supposed to cause a deep pause and sincere reflection of our sinful lifestyles and earnestly consider the eternal consequences of going off into eternity without Christ.

Instead people are talking incessantly about what a great basketball legend he was and his immortality on the court. I understand recognizing Kobe’s talent and honoring what he contributed to the game of basketball, but it’s extremely callous not to consider our lives in the light of eternity and speak of that, too.

One tweet said this: “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever. Rest in peace.”

Really? Listen, basketball is just a game. Heroes and legends and every other famous person that’s ever lived come and go. Kings and mighty rulers of the earth come and go. The rich and the poor alike come and go. Life is very brief on this planet. Let’s not forget that there were 7 other people that lost their lives in that helicopter crash, not just Kobe and his young daughter. He is getting all the attention and honor because of his celebrity status, but in eternity there is no such regard for greatness in this life as men count greatness.

In this 2018 photo, Bryant poses with the Best Animated Short Film Oscar Award for Dear Basketball. [Mike Blake /Reuters]

What do earthly honors matter in the end? What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

Yes, I know Kobe’s influence stretched far beyond sports, touching art, culture, business, and his family. But what does that all matter in the end if he knew not Christ?

In light of Kobe Bryant’s untimely death and all those who went down with him, it’s time to consider again the brevity of this earthly life and the eternal consequences of living a life without Christ.

“Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).

C.T. Studd said it this way:

“Only one life ’twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Leonard Ravenhill also had the right perspective:

“Are the things you are living for worth Christ dying for?”

NO EARTHLY DISTINCTIONS IN THE ETERNAL REALM

God and Satan are not partial to anyone. There are no distinctions in the eternal realm. Kobe is not a superstar in eternity. They are not celebrating his life and greatness in the game of basketball. The only thing heaven celebrates is the life you lived for Christ. The honor you gave to Christ. The steps and pursuits you made for Christ. The people you led to Christ. Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents.

“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10).

I honestly hope Kobe came to repentance before this fatal crash. I hope he was a real Christian and God found some honor in his heart for Christ; or perhaps he called on the Name of the Lord moments before that helicopter exploded in fire. If not, he is experiencing another kind of fire that is eternal where ‘Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched’ (Mark 9:44).

The God of all flesh has no regard for world celebrities, famous leaders, or mighty kings on this earth. Note the word of the Lord to the king of Babylon:

“In the place of the dead there is excitement over your arrival. The spirits of world leaders and mighty kings long dead stand up to see you” (Isaiah 14:9).

The surest thing in the world is not death and taxes, it’s death and eternity. Yet, we remain so unconcerned. We are not eternity conscious enough.

Not only are there no earthly distinctions made in heaven concerning our status, position, or achievements in this life, but even in the church world God makes no distinctions. There are no church or denominational distinctions in heaven. There is not one section in heaven for Presbyterian Christians, another section for Anglican Christians, and yet another for Baptist Christians. Unless a person has sincerely repented of his sins and placed his total trust in Christ for his salvation, proving it by his works, all of life was lived in vain.

JOHN WESLEY’S DREAM THAT REVOLUTIONIZED HIS LIFE

John Wesley had a dream which affected his life’s work tremendously. He dreamed that he died and came to the gate of heaven. He was anxious to know who had been admitted, so he questioned the keeper:
“Are there any Presbyterians here?”
“None”, replied the keeper of the gate.
Wesley was surprised. “Have you any Anglicans?” he asked.
“No one!” was the reply
“Surely, there must be many Baptists in heaven?”
“No, none”, replied the keeper.
Wesley grew pale. He was afraid to ask his next question:
“How many Methodists are there in heaven?”
“Not one,” answered the keeper quickly.
Wesley’s heart was filled with wonder. The angel at the gate then told Wesley that there were no earthly distinctions in heaven. “All of us here in heaven are one in Christ. We are just an assembly who love the Lord”.
Wesley was then taken downward, downward to the entrance of Hell. He met the keeper of the gate there.
“Have you any Presbyterians here?” asked Wesley.
“Oh, yes, many,” answered the keeper.
Wesley stood still, “Have you any Anglicans?” he asked.
“Yes, yes, many”, answered the keeper.
“Are there Baptists in there”? Wesley continued to ask.
“Of course, many,” replied the keeper.
”Wesley was afraid to ask the next question. “Are there any Methodists in hell?”
The keeper of the gate grinned. “Oh Yes, there are many Methodists here.”
Wesley could hardly speak. “Tell me, have you any here who love the Lord?”
“No, no, not one, not one” he answered. “No one in hell loves the Lord”
CONCLUSION OF ALL MATTERS IS TO LOVE AND FEAR GOD
Do you love the love the Lord? If so, you will have the highest regard and reverence for His holy Word and you will obey what is written therein.
But our obedience to God is not only a manifestation of our love for Him but also our fear of Him. And frankly, that is what is missing in American culture right now and even within church walls.

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt. 10:28).

It’s time for America, the church world, and all the nations of the earth to fear God, so they can be spared eternal damnation and live a life worthy of the reward of Christ’s sacrifice. It’s time for all of of us to realize that there are only two distinctions in the eternal world, the saved and the damned. Those who have received the life of Christ and those who have not.

“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12).

I pray for all those close to Kobe, and most especially for his grieving family during this devastating time in their lives. May they find Christ and receive the hope, strength, and comfort they so desperately need.
