The big news around here is that after 3 surgeries and 3 weeks of recovery in the hospital without visitors, Carolyn was discharged on June 11 and is home. Yay! Our son Daniel is also home! Double yay!! Actually, much to our delight, he is here for two reasons: 1) to help us and be a strength to us; 2) and for six weeks of job training that he will carry with him and work remotely from his apartment in Atlanta.
Furthermore, he can move anywhere in the country, and take this job with him. For an inspiring actor, that’s big. Our seed is highly favored and shall be mighty on earth, because he fears the Lord and delights in God’s commandments (Ps. 112:1-2). We are so happy to be together as a little family for the first time since last Christmas.
After a little over five weeks at home, Carolyn is healing nicely. She is now able to stand and walk more and more every day. We rejoice in her progress. Her leg bandages, one on each upper leg, and another one on her left calf, where the cancerous tumor was removed, have to be changed twice a day.
The surgeon took a skin graft from her right leg, and that is healing really good. In fact, the bandage or covering on that leg was permanently removed, so the skin can breathe and new skin can form quicker. The best way to describe that upper leg is like grating a piece of cheese or looking at a massive rug burn that peeled a foot of skin off. Ouch! My baby doll has been so brave, and the Lord has shown us His divine intervention and loving kindnesses in so many ways through the body of Christ.
The journey ahead is still long with 6 weeks of radiation remaining, but the days now are definitely brighter.
