One of the many things Marietta observed in paradise were the many children that were there, and of course, this is in perfect harmony with Scripture. When Jesus was on the earth He took little children in his arms and blessed them, saying, “of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 18:1-5; 19:13-14).
The Word of God does not give us a lot of detail as to what happens to the little children when they die, but we believe and know they are escorted to heaven safely to receive loving care and training from their guardian angels. The angel told Marietta: “If man had not departed from purity and harmony, earth would’ve been a proper nursery for new born spirits.” When sin and death entered the world little children were its most defenseless victims.
Marietta was further informed that there was a city in heaven called Infant Paradise, which was set on a floral plain amidst flowers and birds that were greatly superior to our natural world. We could imagine that it was similar to the birds found in the garden of Eden long ago before sin entered into the world.
She was also told that when an angel escorts an infant into paradise he classifies it according to its particular type of mind and special gifts, and assigns them to a home where its best adapted. There are schools in paradise, and there the infants are taught lessons that were intended to have been learned on the earth. Only in paradise they are free from the defilements and vice of a fallen race. The angel informed Marietta that if the bereaved parents of all children only realized the bliss and happiness of the child they lost, they would no longer be overwhelmed with grief. After the children complete their courses of instruction, Marietta was told that they were then moved upward to a higher sphere of learning.
She was also shown that there are different spheres of life in paradise. Certain societies are more advanced spiritually than others. This is quite in harmony with the apostle Paul’s revelation concerning life after the resurrection. Redeemed spirits and bodies differ in glory as one star differs from another.
“There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption” (1 Cor. 15:41-42).
Although there are different classifications of beings and societies, yet there is a beautiful unity and harmony between all inhabitants of paradise regardless of their spiritual or intellectual development. Unlike wicked spirits who have a discordant nature that is out of harmony with the prevailing laws of paradise, and in contrast to the earth, there is an absence of rivalry and competition in heaven. Marietta testified: “I saw no rivalry, emulation, or desire for selfish glory that existed in the lovely group of infants, but that each group and the inhabitants of each nursery or palace were united in holy affection to the superior associate and more mature societies. Each child was filled with holy love, and desired to become advanced in holy wisdom and fitted to be used as an angel of light and loveliness.” How precious that is.
In constrast, the wicked spirits could not enter the holy city, for if allowed to, they would suffer intense agony. Therefore, God in His goodness does not permit such spirits to mingle within the sphere of the righteous, but a great gulf is fixed between their respective abodes.
“And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us” (Lk. 16:26).
The cross is ever the vision of the redeemed spirits in heaven. All instruction is based on that blessed symbol of redeeming love, and it is the duty of the guardian angels to instruct the spirits in their charge concerning the great truth of redemption and the sufferings of Jesus. The cross and His sacrifice is imaged within their hearts and all the angels behold it as it shines forth from the soul that has received its impress. Evil spirits cannot conceal their true nature from angels and redeemed spirits.
Heaven is real, and just reading and writing about it brings me joy. What will you do with this revelation dear friends? Will you continue to give yourself to life’s trivialities and futilities? Or will you whole-heartedly live for Jesus Christ and eternity? We will continue to delve into the invisible world and discover more of what Marietta and others have witnessed. How exciting!
